2024 year in review
2024 has been an eventful year – some good stuff, some bad stuff, some great stuff, and a whole lot of the day-to-day humdrum in between.
Did I meet my goal to get in shape and get serious about taking care of myself? No.
Did I engage in activities to better myself and grow as a person. Not really.
But did I do stuff? Some!
For example, January 5th was Taco Night 🤩

During the Great Chibaraki Blizzard of 2024, I made a snowman

On March 30, I saw a pigeon!

Our Thai chili plant had a productive year. This pic is from July, and it has still produced a couple more peppers into December!

I went to the Narita Gion festival in July

And I saw a turtle pile.

On July 27, I made grilled cheese.

On September 15, I tried to walk 26.75 km to the ocean. I made it halfway, but it was just too hot and I had to give up 😦

One creative endeavor I've tried to do is make more videos. While the quality is questionable, I do enjoy making them, which is the important part!
In October, I did the Yamathon with some of the good folks from mastodon (walking ~45 km around the Yamanote Line in Tokyo). It was really great fun and I can't wait to do it again next year – hopefully next time with a little more training.
If I had to guess, I'd say that I consumed about 10 famichiki this year. I will resolve to improve my numbers for next year!

And though I can't go into to much detail about it online or post pics for privacy reasons, the year had a big finish – adopting a baby!
In closing, my goals for next year are to get in shape and start taking better care of myself (again). I think the little dude will be good motivation on that front! 👶
